About North East Power Yoga

North East Power Yoga was founded in 2012 as a space for serious practice, disciplined study, and grounded teaching rooted in the classical traditions of yoga and expressed through a modern, accessible lens.

The school was built on the belief that yoga is not simply a physical system, but a complete discipline - one that integrates philosophy, history, ethics, embodiment, and lived practice.

NEPY exists to support students and teachers who seek depth, integrity, and authenticity in their relationship with yoga.

The training programs emphasize:

  • classical foundations
  • ethical teaching
  • embodied awareness
  • disciplined practice
  • personal responsibility
  • mentorship-based learning
  • small-cohort education
  • real-world integration

This is not a mass-market training model. It is a grounded, relationship-based approach to education and transformation.

About the Founder

Tamsy Markham

Tamsy Markham, E-RYT 500, is the founder of North East Power Yoga (est. 2012) and a mentor, teacher trainer, and educator. She founded High Street Yoga in 2009, which became a springboard for numerous studios and teachers in the surrounding region.

Her work centers on mentorship-based, lineage-rooted training that develops adaptable teachers, grounded leaders, and embodied practitioners.

Tamsy's approach to teaching emphasizes:

  • integrity over performance
  • depth over speed
  • embodiment over image
  • ethics over branding
  • practice over posturing
  • leadership through presence

Her work integrates classical yoga foundations with modern application, supporting students in developing clarity, confidence, discernment, and authentic voice - both on and off the mat.
